In April I travelled to London to attend the premiere of the Symphony Holy Family the composer Richard Blackford, a unique event in which I had the opportunity to collaborate in the graphic part of the project. While the orchestra performed the work, my pictures of the church is projected on a giant screen, creating an audiovisual experience in which the music and the architecture complemented each other to perfection.
My connection with London
It was not my first time in the British capital. I lived in London for a year in 1999 and I have very vivid memories of that period of personal transformation and precarious jobs. Since then I have been back several times, almost always on a photographic assignment, which left me little time to enjoy the city at leisure. This time I took the opportunity to stroll through lesser-known corners and rediscover the city from a different perspective.
The premiere at the National Theatre
Blackford has again created an emotional journey which evokes beauty and drama from a unique subject matter.
The Bach.Choir
Thursday was held the official presentation in the National Theatre. There I had the opportunity of meeting briefly to Richard Blackford before the introductory talk to the work, which took place in one of the rooms of the theatre. Subsequently, we moved everyone to the concert hall, where an imposing orchestra waited on the stage. The room was completely full and I was introduced to very different personalities, among them the Spanish consul in London, a meeting so unexpected, unusual for me.
Music and images in the same show
When the orchestra began to play, the music filled every corner of the room while my images of the Holy Family was projected in large format. The result was an impressive spectacle in which the sounds and the architectural forms are interlaced to provide the public with an unforgettable experience. For me it was a very special moment: to see how my artwork was part of a work so powerful, and to see how the music and the image is fostered each other. A huge satisfaction, professional and personal, too.
